Reports: Mfundi Vundla gave a R1000 for Tiki's funeral

Johannesburg - When acting legend Tiki Nxumalo passed away last week, government officials in KZN immediately jumped onto the bandwagon, insisting that they would help pay funeral costs. But it seems it was all empty promises.

Daily Sun is reporting that Tiki's funeral was filled with angry family members after because of the failed promises.

Tiki, better known as Sompisi on popular soapie Generations, was laid to rest this weekend. But despite public promises from government to help with funds, they failed to do so. (Read the initial story here)

Daily Sun claims that former head writer of the show, Bongi Ndaba and actress Slindile Nodangala, who played Ma Ruby, are just two of the people who had to come through at the last minute to help.

Even more shocking to the family is the claim that Generation creator Mfundi Vundla donated R1 000 towards the funeral costs. When the head writer revealed the amount, the crowd apparently howled in protest.

It is claimed that the family are now under massive financial pressure, as they made arrangements based on the fact that they would be getting help. But with that falling apart, they are now in debt in excess of R45 000.

Mfundi was unavailable for comment.
