Sbusiso Vilakazi's family held hostage by armed robbers

Another Bafana Bafana soccer player has been targeted by criminals.

Sbusiso Vilakazi, who plays for Bidvest Wits, told to EWN that armed men broke into his parents' home in Soweto, assaulted them and took off with some items. This happened while the soccer player was asleep in a nearby cottage. The men allegedly entered the house in the early hours of Saturday morning, while others waited outside.

The site is reporting that Sbusiso's father was hit on the head with a gun and his mother was tied up. And then they were robbed. "These guys had ropes and they tied up my family so they couldn't move or anything," he said. He apparently believes that he was the target because the criminals allegedly kept asking about his whereabouts.

He told the site: "Those people knew what they wanted. They came looking for me. They mentioned my name and asked my parents where is your child." The suspects reportedly took money, clothes, jewellery and appliances.

The suspects made off with jewellery, appliances, some of his clothing and an undisclosed amount of money. No one has been arrested yet and police are investigating.
