Senzo Meyiwa murder 'suspect' sues police for R10m

Johannesburg- It's been seven months since Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed during a botched robbery at Kelly Khumalo's Vosloorus home.

The matter is still under investigation, but there have been no arrests made by police yet. However, just days after the shooting, a man named Zamokuhle Mbatha was arrested and taken in for questioning in connection with the murder, but was later released due to lack of evidence.

Zamokuhle was kept behind bars for 13 days before charges against him were withdrawn. Now it has emerged that Zamokuhle is taking legal action against Police Minister Nathi Nhleko and the NPA for R7.5 million and R2.5million, respectively.

This is according to The Star who have revealed that Zamokuhle will be taking legal action for wrongful arrest and defamation of character.

The wrongfully accused man also hopes to clear his tarnished reputation. At the time, The Juice reported how Zamokuhle said he feared for his life after being released as people still thought it was him who committed the crime.
