Johannesburg - Afro-soul queen, Simphiwe Dana, had fans hot under the collar recently when she kept them waiting during her anniversary show this last weekend.
It was supposed to be a celebration of her achievement and longevity in the SA music industry. But Simphiwe's fans were in no mood to party, after the songstress apparently showed up, to the show at Bassline over two hours late.
According to Sowetan, fans attending the show became impatient and started singing struggle songs, while they waited for their hero to take the stage.
Many fans took to social media during and after the show to predict a riot breaking out at the venue, and to vent their frustration over being "disrespected".
But Simphiwe says it's all a misunderstanding. She had not kept her fans waiting for two hours, instead the opening acts had gone on for two hours and her fans had simply misinterpreted the length of the supporting acts with a delay.
"No, people didn't wait for two hours after the opening acts. The opening acts went on for two hours," she told the paper.
