Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse released on R2k bail

Johannesburg - Internationally renowned musician, Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse, was on Wednesday released on R2 000 bail in connection with assault and kidnapping charges.

Hotstix handed himself over to police after two men he hired stole a car battery from him. They allege that he kidnapped and beat them.

There has been widespread condemnation, with many reacting in shock at the news that the musician took the law into his own hands.

However, as reported earlier, Hotstix did initially comment, saying that the men asked him not to report the matter to police as they were already in trouble with the law. He said they begged him to beat them instead. (Read that story here)

Now, the musician has refused to comment, only saying that it is a legal matter and once everything is cleared, he will give his side of the story.

He is due in court later this month.
