Sonia Sedibe on divorce, her stroke and her love life!

Being in the public eye means having your private life splashed all over the media. One person who knows this too well is Sonia Sedibe. The former Generations actress and businesswoman has experienced some painful moments, including suffering a stroke and going through a divorce, in a matter of months.

In an interview with True Love magazine, Sonia got candid about some of these experiences. Read some extracts below.

On her stroke:

"Before I had the stroke, I began feeling numb. Although I was in my bedroom, I didn't know where I was. I went to hospital and was sent back home after an ECG (Electrocardiography), which showed there was nothing to worry about."

But things turned bad a day after her eldest son's birthday party. "During the party, I started to panic and cried. My friends escorted me out so I could regain composure... I lost my mind and said things that didn't make sense. I felt numb on the left side of my face and thought someone was out to get me." She was rushed to hospital where it was confirmed that she had suffered a mild stroke.

On being assaulted by her maid:

"The helper situation was ridiculous and unfortunate. It's something I regret. I'm now very careful who I hire." She added that she opened a case of assault after her maid hit her with a mop in her kitchen. "My kids are still traumatised by the incident; it affected us in a major way."

On whether she married Lesley for his money:

"That's not true because I paid for my traditional wedding. I booked Moyo's and paid off everything. I invited about 1000 guests and it was a beautiful wedding. If I married him for money, why did I pay for certain things," she said.

Would she join Generations: Legacy?

Sonia told the mag: "No, I haven't been approached... I love acting and would probably do it for free but I also like being independent and going back to the soapie world would mean being on set every day for long hours."

Is she seeing anyone special?

Despite all the rumours, Sonia insists that she is very much single.  "I've even put dating on hold. I need space..."
