Sports presenter Lebo Motsoeli: "It just didn't work out"

It seemed like a fairytale ending for sports anchor Lebo Motsoeli and sports commentator Sizwe Mabena when they got married in 2012. However, less than one year later, Lebo confirmed to Drum that their marriage was over!

When Lebo's surname changed from Mabena back to Motsoeli live on-screen in January this year, rumours instantly began doing the rounds that all was not well between them.

After months of keeping a tight lip, Lebo has admitted that their marriage failed due to a number of reasons.

"Many factors contributed to the end. I can't really pinpoint one, but among them was not putting family first. There was also a breakdown in communication. It was eventually a case of either sink or swim, so I chose life," she explained.

Lebo removed her wedding ring and moved out of their home in November last year, but explained that it was hard for her to tell her parents it was really over between them.

So what does the future have in store for her? Lebo plans to continue being on top of her game in the sports world. She also plans to go back to studying full-time, as she's always dreamed of studying medicine.
