Steve Hofmeyr sent social media into frenzy with a rather controversial tweet. It's not the first time the singer has landed in hot water over such remarks and has even been labelled 'racist' on Twitter.
"Sorry to offend you but in my books, Blacks were the architects of Apartheid go figure," read the tweet. The tweet was posted last week but it's since emerged that the singer has lost a vehicle sponsorship over it and many prominent figures have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions.
This is what Zelda le Grange had to say about the tweet: "When will Steve Hofmeyr realise that his barking and racism do exactly the opposite of caring and protecting for the safety of farmers. Surely the HRC (Human Rights Commission) should now take action against Steve Hofmeyr. He incites and promotes intolerance and hate."
Today the singer returned to Twitter to, erm, explain himself. "Apartheid NOT the cause of deficit, deficit the cause of Apartheid. Sums up my tweet. What part is racist? #STOPentitlementNOW," he tweeted.
Oi.
