The top five most shocking stories in 2014

It's often said that there's never a dull moment in the world of showbiz. And, looking back, it's been one heck of a year with incidents that have had our jaws drop to the floor.

Here's a recap of some the most shocking stories of 2014:

Senzo Meyiwa shooting: The shooting of Bafana Bafana captain and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper on 26 October sent shock waves across the world. Senzo was killed during a botched robbery at his girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo's Vosloorus home.

Generations cast fired: After months of fighting, wage demands and strikes, creators of the hit soapie terminated the contracts of 16 striking cast members. The feud between creator, Mfundi Vundla and the 16 actors turned into a nasty mud-slinging battle. This led to the SABC pulling Generations off-air for two months, while producers were hard at work writing a revamped version of the soapie, which returned to TV screens on 1 December. Actors like Sophie Ndaba, Menzi Ngubane, Katlego Danke and Winnie Ntshaba among others jobless.

DJ Euphonik vs Itumeleng Khune: YOH! Do you guys remember this incident?  DJ Euphonik nearly beat soccer star Itumeleng Khune to a pulp for allegedly "touching and kissing Bonang on the lips" at a popular nightclub earlier this year. It was this incident that was allegedly the final straw for Minnie Dlamini, which led to their break up. It was also a media frenzy with both Euphonik and Itu making headlines for the wrong reasons.

Steve vs Chester: Chester Missing became the first puppet in SA history to be served court papers. It all started with Steve Hoffmeyr making 'racist' comments on Twitter, which led to a full-blown war between Chester and Steve. It was definitely an action-packed few weeks as Steve defended his remarks and Chester continued to call him out for being a 'racist.'

AKA gun incident: It's no secret that there's a long-standing feud between AKA and Cassper Nyovest, but we never in our wildest dreams expected claims of guns been drawn behind-the-scenes of a TV show. Cassper claimed that one of AKA's friends pulled a gun on him!  The matter was thrown out of court but the verdict is still out on whether it did happen.
