Johannesburg- Songbird Unathi Msengana has been lambasted on social media for apparently trying to defend Stellenbosch University's language policy.
A short documentary, which is called Luister, has sparked widespread anger and debate among black students and on social media.
The documentary highlights issues such as Afrikaans still being used in lectures, which puts people who don't understand the language at a disadvantage.
Unathi quickly found herself trending on Twitter after she started a conversation during her radio show on Metro FM on Monday about the issue.
People dug into Unathi for some of the comments she made on-air, as they felt that Unathi was apparently defending the language policy.
Unathi also took to Twitter where she tried to defend her point of view. "You cannot say that they said Afrikaans wouldn't (be an issue). How do we fight for you. That's my point. Be fair guys. I know it hurts," she wrote.
However, people continued to lash out at Unathi.
Here's some of the comments...
