Well-wishes pour in as Darren Scott reveals he has cancer

Johannesburg – Popular radio personality Darren Scott has announced that he is again battling cancer.

The Hot Fm radio presenter thanked fans on his Facebook page for their support, staying optimistic despite the blow to his health.

"Ok, now I know what acupuncture with pitchforks would feel like!!! Just popped in to say thanks for all the messages gang! Really appreciate it! I have a great team of doctors dealing with this, and the 'kicking-it's arse' process has started!"

Although details on his exact condition remain unclear at this stage, Darren remains upbeat, comparing his health battle to that of a soccer game.

"See it as: I am Arsenal, The cancer is Spurs. And Arsenal NEVER lose to Spurs. (Would've used a sharks analogy but this season ..... I might be in trouble!) Your thoughts and prayers are much appreciated!" he wrote.

Darren received treatment for advanced skin cancer (melanoma) in 2012, and after several months of treatment was able to beat the condition.

When contacting the offices of Hot fm this morning, The Juice was told that Darren was on extended leave because of his health condition and that no further comment would be available at this stage.

Friends and fans of the well-known personality have offered messages of support to Darren and his family.

"Good Morning SK,I pray that God give you strength during these times your are such a phenomenal strong women everything will be alright.Be strong for the boys.Lots of prayers dear.God will never let you go through something you cannot handle," - Valensia Waibale

"Darren that's what i appreciate and love about you and your wife. You have both never tried to talk around things but rather talk about the problem at hand. In this case, your cancer. Not only are you tackling this head on but also still have your sense of humour and your own way of dealing with. You, Sarah-Kate and the boys are in my thoughts and prayers. one of my biggest dreams growing up was to meet you, after hearing you on radio and listening to your commentating on TV and i do hope i bump into you somewhere along the line. With your faith and all your support the cancer is more like the EP Kings, head up, chin up and march forth" - Jason Scott Johnson

"We are a large community of people as families fighting the monster of cancer. Woke up this morning with a new hatred for this beast that tries to defeat us, rip apart our families. As a new day begins, a new fire burns within me, to help my loved ones to find a cure to eradicate this monster!!" - Tania Hofmeyr.
