Winnie Mandela to sue chief for R10 million

Winnie Mandela is reportedly ready to sue Chief Daludumo Mtirara.

Winnie is apparently not happy about comments the Royal Council spokesperson made about her. According to Daily Sun, her lawyer Mvuzo Notyesi said they served Daludumo with a letter on Tuesday in which he was given 72 hours to publicly apologise to Winnie.

The paper is reporting that if he doesn't apologise he will be sued for R10 million. "Mtirara made offensive and defamatory remarks about my client following her claim to Nelson Mandela’s home in Qunu. He publicly referred to her as opportunistic, dishonest and a liar," the lawyer told Daily Sun.

But Chief Daludumo said he hadn't received any letter from the former first lady's lawyers. He reportedly insisted that Winnie has no claim to the Qunu home.

"Madiba is dead and now we are pointing fingers at each other." He added that Winnie was divorced and shouldn't be claiming anything owned by the Mandela family.
