Zola just can't get away from bad publicity. The kwaito star allegedly made racial comments and kicked an Indian contractor. The incident reportedly took place in KwaZulu-Natal, where Zola was performing last weekend. Sunday Sun claims that two men came on stage while Zola was performing, to fix some cables.
In full view of the audience, the kwaito singer allegedly shouted in isiZulu: “Siyasebenza amaNdiya ayasiphazamisa (We’re working, Indians are disrupting us)!” The crowd and the organisers were apparently not impressed. On his way off stage, Zola allegedly kicked Marcus Darahji in the back in full view of the fans.
Production manager Thobeka Ngcobo from Big 4 Events Company was also not impressed. He told the paper: “Zola’s dancers were dancing all over, which loosened up the cables somehow. So my guys went on stage to rescue him, but he decided to humiliate Marcus and kicked him out. It was wrong of him to say those things.”
Zola 7 told Sunday Sun: “It’s one of those things people don’t understand. I never meant it that way. It was a joke. “those people are my friends. We met backstage before we rocked the crowd.”
