Everything you need to know about the Miss SA pageant

Johannesburg - On Saturday, 19 March, Mzansi will have a newly crowned Miss South Africa.

The annual beauty pageant is taking place at Carnival City, Johannesburg on Saturday night.

Presented by Sun International in collaboration with Cell C, 12 contestants will walk the ramp in the final stage of the competition. Guests on the night and viewers watching the show from home will be treated to performances by the likes of Mi Casa, Prime Circle and Sketchy Bongo.

The pageant is notoriously attended by the creme dela creme of South African celebrities, with many of the previous winners expected to be there, including former Miss South Africa and former Miss World, Rolene Strauss.

Outgoing Miss South Africa, Liesl Laurie has spoken about her journey, saying it was "something I will never forget".

The winner will walk away with prizes in excess of R2m, making it one of the richest beauty competitions in the world. The prizes include a Nissan Duke, a 7 night international holiday and cash.
