Basetsana Kumalo hospitalised after freak accident

Johannesburg - Media mogul Basetsana Kumalo has on Friday morning been hospitalised and is currently undergoing surgery, after a freak accident which left her with a broken ankle.

According to a statement released by Miss SA organisers on Friday morning, Bassie was injured at her son's school after watching him perform at a concert and was taken to hospital where she is currently having surgery.

This means that Bassie will not be able to fill her obligations as a judge at the Miss SA pageant this weekend.

"Miss South Africa regrets to announce that Basetsana Kumalo, one of the judges for this year’s Miss South Africa pageant, had an unfortunate accident yesterday at her son’s school after watching him play at a concert. She slipped in the rain and broke her ankle and is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. The organisers have made the decision not to replace her on the judging panel at this late stage and her scores to date still stand," read the statement.

Earlier this week The Juice reported on Bassie's excitement at being part of the pageant's judging panel 22 years after winning the Miss SA crown. (More on that here)

Speedy recovery, Bassie!
