Johannesburg - To the outside world it may seem that Soulistic Music is a sinking ship, but the label's former artist Culoe De Song says Black Coffee is not to blame.
Black Coffee's record label has been rocked by constant rumours of artists fleeing the label, claiming that the infamous DJ has not done enough to promote them or their careers.
The rumours gathered steam last year when reports of Culoe De Song leaving the label was followed a few months later with reports that DJ Shimza was set to follow suit (more on that here).
Weekend reports once again painted Black Coffee in a negative light with claims that his artist Da Capo was also jumping ship, claiming his career has stagnated after joining Soulistic.
Although Da Capo has been mum on the rumours, Black Coffee has found an advocate in Culoe De Song, who took to Twitter this week to defend his former boss, while also sharing some insights into his own departure from the label.
Politics, the art of influence. People in the music industry get so caught up on the dark fringes of this that they no longer see the beauty

Meaning they can never share a beautiful view of the game to a kid from ekasi who wants a piece of the cake.

If Coffee was truly selfish, I wouldn't be touring the world today.

Ask yourself why people are so comfortable to feed you certain information.

When I left Soulistic, I took some time away from everybody. I distanced myself from any close influence.

That gave me clear perspective.

The dream was to grow and I had to take certain steps to get there.

Then the talks started. "Close" industry peers started talking.

So much information invaded my headspace and I had to make a conscious decision to just focus on the goal.

When I say the dream, I mean for all of us. Soulistic family & I , wanted what's best for me.

As an artist, my advice to other artists, focus on your craft, don't compare yourself to others, think of the best results and go for them.
