Don Laka takes aim at DJs in radio play rant

Johannesburg- Jazz legend and co-founder of Kalawa Jazmee, Don Laka, has taken his fight with radio to the next level, naming and shaming several artists for what he alleges is conflict of interest.

Don, who made headlines earlier this week with a Facebook rant on SA radio not appreciating local artists (more on that here), has found his voice suddenly silenced after discovering his Facebook account had been disabled without his permission.

The artist took to Twitter to share his discovery with fans.

Although it's unclear what exactly prompted the suspension, Don had only a few hours before the Facebook post sparked outrage.

In the since deleted post Don accuses local DJs Shimza, Oskido, Mo Flava, Christos, Naves, Malwela and Vinny Da Vinci of "fraud and conflict of interest."

He alleges that the artists are enriched by radio stations, which many of them work for, and together have formed a business within a business which monopolises the local playlist quota.

The post has sparked backlash from local artists, who have questioned Don's decision to name specific artists in his post.

The Juice has contacted DJ Shimza for comment, but have yet to receive a response.
