Festival organisers give AKA hell after he pulls out of show

Cape Town – It’s always awkward when a professional relationship ends badly.

The biggest example of that this week has been the exchanges between AKA and Osmic Menoe (the organiser of Back to the City).

ICYMI: This is why AKA won’t be performing at Back to the City #shotsfired. Basically he says that he wasn’t given what he wanted (top billing in all event promotions just like the international acts) and he withdraws from performing.

Here’s a quote from AKA: "I consider myself an international act. I have the tours‚ awards‚ following and most importantly the live show and music to prove it. With all due respect to Elzhi‚ Jay Live‚ Skyzoo & Camp Lo‚ I will not allow an artist like myself to be reduced to a minor detail."

Now Osmic Menoe has fired back in a statement that makes it seem more like a tricky situation.

Here’s a screengrab of the post where Osmic outlines what he said happened with alleged screencaps of the conversations between him and AKA’s manager:

Back to city, screencap

In this case of he-said/he-said it’s hard to know exactly what happened.
