Here's what went down at DJ Sliqe’s debut album launch

Johannesburg - On Thursday night, Jozi’s A-listers gathered at the luxurious Cantare club at Montecasino, north of Johannesburg, for the much-anticipated album launch and listening session of Injayam Vol 1, the SA Music Award-winning DJ Sliqe’s debut album.

The launch was scheduled to start at 18:30, but started at 20:30 – in true African time style!

To make up for this delay, guests were served delicious eats, but, sadly, there was not enough food to go around. However, our glasses were kept filled to the brim.

For those who don’t know, DJ Sliqe is popularly known for his chart-topping bangers such as Do Like I Do, ILife, Mercy and the recent summer-sizzling Bay 2 featuring AKA, JR and Yanga.

It’s surprising that this is DJ Sliqe’s debut album. Indeed, Injayam Vol 1 promises to be one of the best albums to come from a South African hip-hop DJ.

The star-studded offering contains 14 tracks, and it features some predominant industry game players, including award-winning artists such as the already mentioned AKA, JR and Yanga, as well as Riky Rick, Shekhinah Donnell, Kwesta, Da Les, Ma E and Shane Eagle.

The session was a laid-back affair that sported a strong handful of the who’s who in the media industry, all showing up to check out what’s up.

A couple of DJ Sliqe’s fellow rappers also came through to show some love.

Nadia Nakai, JR, Yanga, Chief, Stilo Magolide, Smashis and Black Les were some of those in attendance.
