Johannesburg – Welcome to part 2 of our best local songs of 2015.
Yup, the list is so extensive and we had to make sure that we didn’t leave anybody out.
So, from tracks that inspired and challenged, to songs getting massive radio play, here’s another five tracks that made our year, in no particular order.
Nomvula – Nathi
Multi-award winning singer and songwriter Nathi, stepped out from behind the scenes this year and caught all of our attention with his heart stopping hit, Nomvula. Like a tsunami, it swept the nation until Nathi became everyone’s favourite artist.
City Rains- Mobi Dixon
It may have been released at the end of 2014, but 2015 will always be remembered as the year Mobi Dixon broke into the hearts and minds of music lovers with his hit, City Rains. Transporting us away into a different world with its deep house beats, the track shows why Mobi is one of the most exciting acts in Mzansi at the moment.
Slyza Tsotsi- Major League Djz
Perhaps no song says street more than Slyza Tsotsi. At first it was ridiculed for its “shallow” and “basic” lyrics, but the beat soon grew on all of us and it wasn’t ling before we were all showing off our version of the Slyza Tsotsi.
Juice Back – Nasty C
The amazing track may not have reached ginormous status until it was remixed by Davido and Cassper Nyovest, but that’s not to say it wasn’t one of the biggest songs of the year. With a catchy hook and fresh flows, Juice Back has well and truly cemented Nasty C as one of the most exciting young talents in Mzansi.
We Dance Again – Black Coffee x Nakhane Toure
We all know that DJ Black Coffee is a wizard on the decks, but he really turned up the heat with his track, We Dance Again. The track features the haunting vocals of Nakhane Toure over Black Coffee’s golden beats. No wonder we can’t stop dancing.
