Jo-Ann Strauss reflects on her career journey

Johannesburg- Jo-Ann Strauss is a true 21st century woman. 

She's a wife, mom, businesswoman, TV personality and role model to many young women. 

Jo-Ann juggles the many roles she plays with complete ease, and still manages to look great.

But her rise in a very harsh industry wasn't a walk in the park. 

Wednesday marked 15 years to the day that Jo-Ann won Miss South Africa - a day she says set her path on a "trajectory." 

"Today I look back at the many successes, some failures, many lessons and people along my way which moulded me into who I am today with thanks," she wrote on social media. 

Jo-Ann added that she's grateful even to the people who were harsh to her, because it's taught her valuable life lessons. 

15 years ago, I won a pageant that set my path on a trajectory I dreamed of as possible, but back then thought was unlikely at the age of 19. Today I look back at the many successes, some failures, many lessons and people along my way which moulded me into who I am today with thanks. Even the radio DJ then who said I was the ugliest Miss SA who he'd ever seen - yip, you actually helped me to realise that those who speak harsh words about others often say things that come from their own insecurities. Tomorrow it'll be 15 years exactly since I won #MissSouthAfrica at the age of 19. I was a second year B.Comm (law) student and had no idea I would win and become one of the youngest #MissSA winners. What a journey this has been. So blessed with my life thus far and looking forward to many more milestones ?? @official_misssa
