Kwaito artist is no Cassper copycat

Johannesburg - Kwaito artist Singil is no copycat!

The musician has been turning head for years with his trademark ponytail, but has recently had to fight off claims that he's just a Cassper Nyovest style copycat.

In fact, the claims are so strong that Singil and his team have had to come out to address them on numerous occasions.

In a recent Instagram post, Singil's team at Galagalawela Productions addressed the claims, saying uSingil had the ponytail first.

"We just need to clarify that @usingil had this Pony Tail Style from 2007 when he arrived in Richards Bay to join his brother @shakes_ngema on the Music. They had to give him a Stage Name from his original name, Sphamandla Ngema. Then he decided to come up with a name uSingil. That is where they had to brand him according to his Stage name as Singil. By making this Long Singil of a Pony Tail," the company posts about the origins of Singil and his ponytail.

"By that time Cassper Nyovest was no where in the industry as he was known from 2013 after released of his single called "Gusheshe. Singil did a music video in 2010 with Msawawa. This Pony Tail was already his branding. #copyingmustfall," they added.

And even though there's no beef between Singil and Cassper, it seems Singil wants the world to know he grew it first!
