Johannesburg - It took a lot for musician Lloyd Cele to finally gather the courage to ask his wife out. But nine years of marriage and two kids later, he sure is happy he did!
Lloyd and his missus, Janice, celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary this week, and the muso wouldn't let the day pass without a sweet tribute to her.
In the touching letter, posted to his Instagram, Lloyd reveals that he had to overcome a number of fears, including what people would say about him marrying someone of another race, before the couple finally tied-the-knot.
Posting a snap of the pair together, Lloyd wrote: "It took me 2 years to find the courage to ask this woman out on a date. I was scared of being rejected, I felt unworthy to have someone as incredible as she is. I was also scared of what people would say if we were together being from two different race. I'm just being honest !!! I'm truly grateful to God for giving me the courage to ask her out. She is my soul mate, my best friend, my anchor, my everything I ever wanted in life and more," he added.
Lloyd says it has not been easy for the couple, who experienced the pain of a miscarriage 14 months ago (more on that here), but he is grateful that they have been able to rely on each other through the tough times.
"I am blessed beyond words. It has not been easy, but by God's grace we have soared above our storms and held on through thick and thin. Thank you for saying yes to me, and for coping with me to make me the man I am today. I love you with every single breath I have. To infinity and beyond," he wrote.
