Johannesburg- Shikisha presenter Ntombi Mzolo's one-week-old baby, who underwent heart surgery on Monday morning, is doing well.
Ntombi's son was diagnosed with a very rare heart condition called Hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
This means that the left side of the heart hasn't developed properly and cannot pump blood to the body effectively. Ntombi was advised by doctors to terminate her pregnancy, but it was not even an option for her.
Speaking to The Juice before and after the birth of her son, Ntombi explained that she has put her son's life in God's hands. (Read more on that here)
Yesterday her baby boy was wheeled into theatre for a heart surgery that has an incredibly low success rate, with Ntombi saying only 2/10 babies have been known to survive. (Read more on that here)
Following the surgery, Ntombi took to social media to let well-wishers know that surgeons are happy with the way everything went, but are still carefully monitoring her baby.
The next few weeks will be crucial for Ntombi's son. #Faith
