Johannesburg- Shikisha presenter Ntombi Mzolo on Monday announced that her 'miracle baby' has been taken into theatre for heart surgery.
It's been exactly one week since Ntombi's son, who has been diagnosed with a rare heart condition called Hypoplastic left heart syndrome, was born.
The left side of her baby's heart has not developed properly, and as a result cannot pump blood to the rest of the body effectively.
Ntombi found out about her baby's heart condition when she was seven months pregnant, and despite doctors' advice to terminate the pregnancy, she chose to carry Asande Sizwe Jnr to full term. (Read more that here)
For the past one week Asande has been kept in ICU under observation in an incubator, as doctors prepared for the heart surgery which takes place today. (Read more on that here)
Ntombi took to social media revealing that her baby had been wheeled into theatre for one of the most complicated surgeries in the world.
"They've taken him into theatre for a surgery that is considered to be one of the most complicated in the world. They say the chances of survival are 2/10 and in #JesusName I pray and believe that #DunamisAsandeSizwejrMzolo #MiracleBabyMzolo is one of the 2," she wrote.
