Reason reflects on back to school heartbreak

Johannesburg - Reason, like thousands of parents across the country, woke up early this morning to take his daughter to her first day of school. Little did she know how much it actually meant to him.

In a deep Instagram post written by the rapper on Wednesday morning, Reason reflected on his own first day of school.

"I dont really remember much of my first day at school... But I remember wishing my dad was there," he wrote.

"I can't really tell you why because I knew my parents were apart, but the fact that he wasn't made me sad. My mom being there made it all MUUUUUCH less heart breaking but his presence was missed," he added.

The impact of that day has obviously stayed with Reason, but he was determined to not follow his father's example.

"Today I fought everything in me to wake up and go break that cycle and be there. I don't know what all that meant to her today but I sure know what it means to me," he wrote, adding "Enjoy the first day of the rest of your life #MiniMoney!!! Shine your light as bright as you can... and not as bright as they tell you to.  I love you!"
