Reports: Davido investigated for kidnapping his daughter

Johannesburg - Nearly a week after Davido was barred from leaving the country with his daughter, it's been reported that human trafficking police have started investigating the Naija superstar.

Davido took to social media last week, after the incident at a Lagos airport, to open up about his troubled relationship with his baby mama, Sophia Momodu. He claimed that he was only trying to take his daughter to Dubai for medical treatment when Sophia intervened, and the star was stopped and prevented from travelling by police at the airport.

The days that followed have seen Davido and Sophia involved in a heated custody battle, but now it seems that Sophia has gone a step further and reported Davido to the authorities for attempting to kidnap their daughter.

According to Punch Nigeria, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), have officially begun investigating Davido for alleged child abduction.

“The case was reported to us on Wednesday and we have already commenced investigations. That is the only thing I can say for now. We are known for doing a diligent job irrespective of who is involved,” Lagos State Zonal Commander, Joseph Famakin told the publication.

“For now, I cannot say anything about the case because we have just sent out invitations to the parties involved. I have neither seen nor interviewed any of them so for now I cannot really say much. All I can say is that we have commenced a full scale investigation into the matter after we received the petition on Wednesday evening," he added.

Davido has been fairly silent on the issue, resolving to keep quiet for the sake of his daughter.
