Reports: Jub Jub to apply for early release

Johannesburg - Rapper Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye will not be released in March, but could be home in time for Christmas this year.

After rumours of Jub Jub possibly being released from prison as early as March, his lawyer, Rudi Krause has told City Press that he knows nothing of an early release for the rapper - but believes his client will qualify for parole in October.

“I have no doubt in my mind that my client will qualify for parole, judging by the fact that he has completed all the programmes which were offered by the department of correctional services,” he told the paper.

According to City Press, it's believed that Jub Jub has completed anger management and life skills courses provided by Correctional Services, and after completing half of his sentence, may be eligible to apply for early release come October.

Jub Jub was jailed in 2012 after he and his co-accused, Themba Tshabalala, crashed their vehicles into a group of school children in 2010, killing four children.
