Johannesburg- The violence and racial tension that erupted at the University of Free State on Monday afternoon has ignited widespread anger across the nation.
Protests at the university against Afrikaans being used as medium of teaching, as well as outsourcing of university staff, reached a boiling point when protesting students were attacked by rugby players and supporters.
A video showed students go head-to-head against each other after protestors disrupted a rugby match at the university.
Taking to social media, numerous celebrities have lashed out against racism, in the hope that their voices will help defuse the ongoing violence.
Hip-hop sensation Cassper Nyovest believes that the solution is to stop fighting against each other.
"We really need to stop fighting each other and start fight for each other!!!," Cassper said.
All day thinking bout student challenges including what happened in Bloem last night.. Honestly hurts to see such. #PrayForStudents ???????

Saddest thing is no matter how much money we donate, how many tweets we post, how many marches we show up at.. It still doesn't fix things ??
