Tema Sebopedi opens up about her career struggles

Johannesburg - The life of an actress isn't always as glamorous as it appears. Take away the fancy clothes and glitzy events, and you've got a person who is trying to make a living. Just ask Tema Sebopedi!

The Isidingo actress opened up in an Instagram post about how she was feeling disheartened years back. She explained how she went for an audition, and thought that it was going to be another no.

"I was broke, hated makeup, didn't know anything about it nor owned it. I had ran out of outfits to wear to impress and my braids were so old they were hanging from my split ends. I remember getting off the taxi on corner Bram Fischer and Republic to walk to Clive Morris Productions thinking 'I have nothing to loose. If they don't like me, oh well!'"

But little did she know that it would be this very audition that got her her first gig. Here she is talking about that moment and giving us an inspirational throwback.

#TBT OMG then there was this day, a dry scorching day in Jhb. After attending over 200 auditions (and that's just when I'd stopped counting) between 2005 and 2006, this was yet another. I was broke, hated makeup, didn't know anything about it nor owned it. I had ran out of outfits to wear to impress and my braids were so old they were hanging from my split ends. I remember getting off the taxi on corner Bram Fischer and Republic to walk to Clive Morris Productions thinking 'I have nothing to loose. If they don't like me, oh well!' After being told I was too short, too pretty, too young I still kept going because nothing could shake the feeling that My purpose is to be a performer??I arrived there sweaty and sundried to a boardroom of friendly and welcoming faces; and the rest is history. This is a Polaroid pic taken on the day I bagged my first paying television role as a supporting actress on ANGEL'S SONG?????? #IfItsMeantToBeItWillHappen #NeverGiveUpOnYourPurpose #NeverForgetWhereYouComeFrom
