Thapelo Mokoena grateful for overwhelming support

Johannesburg- Actor Thapelo Mokoena is grateful for the overwhelming support he's received, after being victim to an alleged hate crime last week.

On Saturday Thapelo shocked fans when he spoke out for the first time about being involved in a hit and run incident.

In an emotional social media post the actor described how he was reluctant to speak about the ordeal, which he has labelled a "hate crime."

Thapelo's incident occurred just days after the entire country was left reeling by the Penny Sparrow racial post. This sparked widespread anger and racial debate, especially on social media.

The racial divide and upheaval prompted Thapelo to speak out about his ordeal.

In his emotional post, Thapelo detailed how rubble collectors told him that two men ran over him allegedly on purpose, while he was out for a run and drove off. (Read more on that here

Thapelo's story has captured the hearts of many South Africans who have inundated social media with messages of support to him.

The actor, who is recovering from his injuries, returned to social media this week to thank well wishers for the love and support.

"Thank You all for the words of support & strength brothers & sisters #NotYetUhuru #ThisTooShallPass," Thapelo wrote.
