The Soil's Phindo rubbishes assault claims

Johannesburg - Musician Phindo Ngxanga has rubbished reports that he assaulted and left a man bleeding during an altercation in Phiri, Soweto.

Reports this week claimed that Phindo of The Soil fame and his cousin, Mxolisi, had beaten Soweto resident Ntokozo Khiba over an alleged break-in at Mxolisi's house.

But The Soil singer has denied the claims, calling them "entirely fabricated" and "false".

In a statement released on his social media, Phindo acknowledged the reports before writing: "I would like to firstly point out that none of what was mentioned in the article is true including that I have a cousin by the name Mxolisi living in Phiri. The story is entirely fabricated and as mentioned by the journalist no contact was made with me to verify if these allegations were in fact true. In addition, I have not attended any court proceedings for such a case thus have no connection to it whatsoever."

Hi Fam! Today an article written by journalist Snazo Noto was published by local newspaper, Daily Sun regarding a false incident involving myself as a perpetrator of a violent act. I would like to firstly point out that none of what was mentioned in the article is true including that I have a cousin by the name Mxolisi living in Phiri. The story is entirely fabricated and as mentioned by the journalist no contact was made with me to verify if these allegations were in fact true. In addition, I have not attended any court proceedings for such a case thus have no connection to it whatsoever. Secondly, It is not the first time that such an article about a well known personality has been published but to all industry people, I truly believe it should be the last. Journalism is good when thorough research is done to support its claims.
