Johannesburg - When we were young (many moons ago) we dreamt of being an astronaut or the president. Toya Delazy dreamt of being like the Powerpuff Girls!
And, Toya seems to have found her own little happy ending.
The popular musician has got herself a unique new gig - yes, even more unique than starting your own all-girl rap crew (more on that here). You see, Toya will be lending her voice to a new theme songs for the Powerpuff Girls. Remember them?
It was announced this week that Toya will team up with Nickelodeon to create a localised theme song for the relaunch of the classic series about three young girls who save the world before bedtime.
Talking about her new gig, Toya says that, growing up, she always wanted to be like the Powerpuff Girls.
“When Cartoon Network approached me to localise the new Powerpuff Girls theme song recorded by US indie pop band, Tacocat, I first listened to the original song and I had an instant connection with the lyrics 'fighting crime and saving the world before bedtime'. This was one of my childhood dreams growing up in South Africa and I am truly excited to be part of this amazing project!,” says Toya.
Good job, Toya! But now on to more important things: What colour Powerpuff Girl are you?
We've already called dibs on the blue one.
