Watch: Okmalumkoolkat's bestie speaks out

Johannesburg- It's been over a month since we last heard from rapper Okmalumkoolkat, and his friends say it has deeply affected them.

The rapper was reported to have been sentenced to six months, five of which are suspended, in a Tasmanian jail last month on charges of sexual assault (more on that here).

Although silence has since filled the void of shock that gripped the nation at the time the news broke, Okmalumkoolkat's friends and fans have always kept a united front, promising to offer their support to him when he returns.

Talking to SlikourOnLife recently, Okmalumkoolkat's bestie Scoop Makhathini reveals that he and the crew have had a hard time since the news broke.

"I don't know what's been happening. I've been following up, but it's affected the team. It's affected the team so badly," he says.

"I don't know how we're going to deal with it, but as a team we just have to hear and support where he comes from because he was there. Nobody really knows the full story," he adds.

A visibly shaken Scoop says he was there when Okmalumkoolkat was recording a new mixtape that he believes would have changed the rapper's career and once again launched him as a force to be reckoned with in the industry.
