Young hip-hop wins big at the Metro FM Awards

Johannesburg – Even a Best Pop Album and Song of the Year win by favourite Nathi Mankayi couldn’t stop young rappers, Emtee and Fifi Cooper from stealing the show at the Metro FM Awards on Saturday night.

Rapper Emtee walked away with four awards at the event for Best Remix, Best Music Video, Best Hip-Hop and the Listener’s Choice Award

Fifi Cooper was another big winner with three awards in the Best Female Album, Best Produced Album and Best Newcomer categories. 

There were two awards for AKA, Burna Boy and Khuli Chana’s hit collaboration Baddest, in the Best Collaboration and Hit Single categories.

While last year’s big winner, Cassper Nyovest, had to make do with just one award this year for Best Male Album.

Bets Duo or Group – Durban Nyts

Best Compilation  Album- 999 music

Best Styled Artist – Cici

Best Hip Hop Album – Emtee

Best African Artist - Burna Boy

Best  Produced Album – Fifi Cooper

Hit Single- AKA, Burna Boy, Khuli Chana

Best Kwaito Album – DJ Bongz

Listener's Choice Award – Emtee
