Cape Town – As you might have seen recently we snapped pictures of the best graffiti in town for your viewing pleasure.
On our voyage of discovery we bumped into graffiti and tattoo artist: Leigh Soulink.
He was kind enough to answer a few questions we had about his craft and more.
Here is our quickie with the dreadlocked urban virtuoso.

"How long have you been a graffiti artist?"
Leigh Soulink:
"I started Graffing when i was 17...I’m 30 now" (sic).
Channel24:
Who or what inspires your work?
Leigh Soulink:
"I get inspired by a lot of different kinds of artists, not just graff artists but tattoo artists.I like work by Daze, ClogTwo and Derek Noble (sic). "

Which other graffiti artists inspire you (local or international)?
Leigh Soulink:
"There are few local guys and gals, Rasty from Johannesburg, Faith, Dal East and Toe from Cape Town."
Channel24:
What are some of the stereotypes about graffiti artists that you would like to debunk?
Leigh Soulink:
"A lot of people think that we are out destroy private property.There are those who do not know what they are doing and mess things up. A professional grafitti artist respects his canvas (sic)."

What are some of the best art installations you’ve seen?
Leigh Soulink:
"I’ve seen some really awesome work from faith on De Waal Drive (sic)."

How has the public’s perception of graffiti changed over the past few years?
Leigh Soulink:
"It’s changed in a good way but also has been kept very regulated. More and more people want amazing pieces done on their buildings and people are starting to like it more, but theres bad graffiti and good (sic)
