All the deets on the Wavescape Shortcuts filmmaking master class


Cape Town - Professional and aspiring filmmakers in adventure and extreme sports are invited to attend the free Wavescape Master Class - a skills development workshop and networking opportunity presented by the Cape Town and Western Cape Film and Media Promotion Unit, a division of Wesgro.

Participants will learn the secrets of the trade from some of the most talented players in Cape Town’s adventure, documentary and commercial film industries, as well receive official guidance on city permits and film funding.

There will be discussion about growing Cape Town into a filming destination and regional skills hub, under the banner of "Cape Town - Adventure Capital of the World".

Guest speakers will present on topics such as how to access government film funding, rebates and permits, what distributors want, sound design, drone and aerial filming, as well as insights from successful South African adventure filmmakers on how to turn your passion into a career.

The event is hosted by the Cape Audio College as part of the Wavescape Shortcuts, a Short Film competition that takes place 2016 to 2017.

Monica discusses DTI rebates and accessing government financing and why Cape Town as adventure capital is good for business. Monica speaks about how producers can be more export ready, and how and they can get noticed.
