Surfers and foodies will absolutely love this local event!

Cape Town - Join celebrity foodies, surfers, ocean activists and scientific experts for a festive get-together near Cape Town on Saturday, 26 November.

Wavescape Fish Fry, presented by WWF-SASSI, brings the surfing community together for an evening of fun and fish braaing, as part of the Wavescape Festival, which is presented by Pick n Pay. Come and rub shoulders with shapers, artists, environmentalists, and surfers, including celebrities with a passion for the sea starting 6pm at Jack Black Brewery.

The entertainment includes a curated exhibition of surfing photographs, live music by DJs Cath and Dune Tilley, a braai competition featuring four celebrity chef teams to raise awareness about sustainable seafood consumption.

Wavescape also welcomes new partner, the Marine Stewardship Council, whose global mandate is to drive fishery sustainability through its blue MSC label and fishery certification programme.

There will be craft beer and a variety of food trucks, as well as displays of crafted surfboards from eminent Cape Town shapers for you to ogle at, and possibly buy as a Christmas present.

ALSO CHECK OUT: Tasty beer and fish pairings you gotta try!

Top chefs, food bloggers and other celebrities will braai in a sustainable fish braai that includes Riaan Manser, Josie Borain, Michael Mol, Roxy Davis and John Grundlingh.

Judges include the editor of Fresh Living Justine Drake, the editor of Good Housekeeping Sally Emery, and Cape Town food forager Roushanna Gray, Caro de Waal of Eat Design and lifestyle blogger Dax Villanueva.

As part of the fun, there will be a digital display of top ocean and surfing photos from local surf photographers and the public from our #WavesCapePhoto2016 contest, from which we choose two winners, as well as a special one-off auction of an artist-painted surfboard from RVCA and Ricky Basnett.

Enjoy craft beer, food stalls, and dancing later. It costs R40 at the door, which puts you in the draw for prizes that include Surf Emporium gear, RVCA clothing, Billabong wetsuits, a new Channel Island surfboard from Keep It Simple Surf and Jason Ribbink, a brandnew York retro surfboard and lank cool York gear.

Proceeds go to the Waves for Change surfing programme.
