WATCH: Meet the ex-rugby player who’s a brilliant ballet dancer

Cape Town - When you first meet Ivan Boonzaaier you may be excused for thinking that he’s a Russian ballet dancer.

The 26-year-old definitely looks the part and his Slavic name adds to the mystery. His shy, yet confident demeanour gives nothing away about the bulk of a man we meet on the stairs at Cape Town City Ballet’s headquarters.

When he speaks, his Afrikaans-English accent quickly dissolves any pre-conceived ideas you might have had of him.

In a new short documentary series titled, LIFE, Channel24 takes a look at the stories of those around us that aren’t the average 09:00 to 17:00.

This is the story of Ivan Boonzaaier - the ballet dancer that won’t be put in a box.
