Cape Town – If you’re a touchy-feely person like us you know how difficult it is to look at stuff without touching it! We need to use all our senses to get the full experience, obvi.
So we were kind of worried about going to the opening of Power of Poison exhibition in Cape Town on Thursday night and not touching poisonous stuff! Luckily it's 100% safe and there was nothing to worry about.
What is it about?
The Power of Poison exhibition comes all the way from the American Museum of Natural History in New York. It takes a look at poison’s fascinating place in history, from the cures it has created to the myths it has spawned.
Deets:
The exhibition will travel through SA. Here’s what you need to know:
Cape Town: See the exhibition at the V&A Waterfront from 1 April to 12 June.
Gauteng: See the exhibition at Silverstar from 24 June to 12 August.
Durban: See the exhibition at Gateway Theatre of Shopping (Umhlanga) from 9 September to January 2017.
Overheard:
1) The exhibition is brought to South Africa by Expo RSA who previously presented the Lego exhibition and the Titanic exhibition.
2) There’s nothing dangerous at the exhibition. It’s totally safe to take the kids.
3) It’s educational in a super-fun way! (There’s cool interactive games to play and even a laboratory. We tried it out!)
4) Teachers can visit the exhibition for free. Proof of identity will be required for all educators upon entrance. If you’re a teacher, please make a reservation to view the expo with Linda: linda@exporsa.co.za
5) There are 200 exhibits at the exhibition.
6) One of the live animals at the exhibition is a tiny poison dart frog. Its venom can kill up to 8 people. 8 PEOPLE!!
