Cape Town – Meghan Markle has been crowned Woman of the Year by Hello! magazine.
The American actress has had a whirlwind year to say the least. She wrapped up filming the seventh and her final season of the paralegal drama Suits and announced her engagement to British royal Prince Harry.
According to the UK magazine, Meghan has won the approval of adoring fans as well as the royal family who, for the first time, are breaking protocol by having Meghan join in on their Christmas celebrations.
The royal Christmas at Sandringham has never before been attended by non-married partners. The celebrations will include present opening, Christmas lunch and the family’s traditional walk to church in the morning.

Andrew Morton - who wrote Diana: Her True Story - is currently penning an in-depth biography on Meghan.
In an interview with Hello! the author compared Meghan to the likes of Diana, saying: “Meghan is a flag bearer for a new generation of woman who can do it all...
“She is just like Diana was in her thirties – she has presence, she's stylish and is happy to support positive causes – all with star appeal. I can't think of anyone who has come anywhere near her as the most talked about woman of the year.”
