A woman emerges from an underground bunker centuries after nuclear blasts have devastated America, wandering through the sands among ruins engulfed by the desert. However, viewers from South Africa will immediately identify the location used to represent "California" in Amazon's Fallout series as Klomanskop in Namibia.

Part of the allure making the TV adaptation of the video game Fallout on Amazon Prime Video so great is the dystopian scenic beauty in several of the episodes since the show's 8-episode first season was shot on location in several places – including the abandoned ghost town of Kolmanskop in southern Namibia.
