Stef Bos to make history with Castle of Good Hope show

Cape Town – Stef Bos will be gracing Cape Town for an historic event when he plays a show at The Castle of Good Hope this Sunday.

Stef Bos today, is the most active and successful Dutch musician on the African continent. This troubadour has performed and recorded in more than a dozen countries across Africa. He has performed his own compositions at the Eurovision song contest and for president Nelson Mandela in Amsterdam. Stef Bos has received a multitude of awards both locally and abroad and his achievements include 23 Dutch and 3 Afrikaans albums. In 2011 the Cape Times named him one of the year's Top 5 stage sensations alongside other international acts.

Stef Bos is the latest recipient of the 'Jan van Riebeeck Medal of Honour' for his continuous effort in bridging the cultural divide between South Africa and the Netherlands. To crown all these feats, the Mother City will play host to a historic event on 22 February, when Stef Bos and his band becomes the first ever Dutch act to perform at The Castle of Good Hope. This two-hour Sunday afternoon picnic concert will be presented on the lawns inside South Africa’s oldest building erected by the Dutch nearly 350 years ago in 1666.



The South African leg of Stef Bos' current smash-hit theatrical tour Mooi Waanzinnige Wereld coincides with the release of his latest Afrikaans album Kaalvoet. The album opens with the song Maso, a track he recently recorded with a group of Khoi-San youths in the attic of an old Cape Dutch farmhouse on the West-Coast. Ever since acquiring a Cape Town base in 2008, Stef has been penning an increasing number of compositions inspired by the beauty, complexities and rhythms of South Africa. Songs like Tuine van die Kompanjie and Kloofstraat have become instant Bos-classics.



Since Awuwa, his first collaboration with Johannes Kerkorrel and Tandie Klaasen in the mid-nineties, renowned Dutch singer Stef Bos has recorded more than a hundred locally inspired compositions - songs he often shares with his public in Belgium and the Netherlands. Now, with the release of the Kaalvoet CD in South Africa, Stef feels the time has arrived to share his appreciation for two decades of inspiration and support he received here.

The entire Kaalvoet album is freely downloadable via the Huisgenoot.com platform and remain digitally available until his national tour concludes at the University of Pretoria on 28 February.
