Vuyo Mbuli's wife: God had another plan

Cape Town – Vuyo Mbuli's wife Savita has taken to Twitter to share her sadness over her husband's sudden death, saying "we had our own plan but God had another one" for Vuyo.

Vuyo, the 46-year-old co-anchor of the SABC's flagship weekday breakfast show Morning Live on SABC2, died unexpectedly from a a pulmonary embolism on Saturday night after collapsing at the Cheetahs vs Reds Super rugby game in Bloemfontein.

His death shocked the nation, and especially his wife, who took to Twitter on Monday to share her grief:

She also posted a series of photos, one showing Vuyo sitting behind a steering wheel of a boat, with the following words: "You continued to smile Thando.. although inside you were dying. A smile I will always remember.. A fighter…you continued to fight until your last die…coming back twice before eventually giving up."

His death rocked the SABC where Mbuli was the face of the breakfast show for 13 years and left the crew devastated, with SABC personnel and South African viewers and listeners stunned.

Leanne Manas, his long-time co-presenter, told Morning Live viewers on Monday morning that she felt as if she'd lost her "morning husband".
