Judge orders Making A Murderer's Brendan Dassey to be released from prison

Cape Town – A judge has ordered that Brendan Dassey be released from prison.

Dassey was one of the subjects of the Netflix documentary Making A Murderer.

His attorney, Steven Drizin shared the news on Twitter.

The 27-year-old was serving a life sentence for the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach.

In August Magistrate William Duffin ruled that investigators coerced a confession using deceptive tactics on the then 16-year-old Dassey.

He overturned the conviction and ordered that Dassey be freed within 90 days unless prosecutors decide to retry him. (Read more here)

On Monday the judge ruled a supervised release while prosecutors appeal the ruling.

According to the DailyMail Dassey has until 12:00 on Tuesday to provide an address where he will reside at.  His attorneys hope to have him released by Thanksgiving.

Dassey's half brother Brad said in a comment to Fox11 news reporter Andrew Lacombre that his brother is one step closer to freedom he deserves.

However, the Wisconsin General Attorney has revealed that it would file an emergency motion to put Dassey's release on hold.
