Khaya was born a star

The moment I learned that Khaya entered Idols, I knew all those other contestants had no chance.

I first heard him singing with Mthunzi Namba. When he sang I know you been so good to me I immediately sat up straight with much intrigue. His voice is so unique, unlike any I have heard in the South African music scene.

After hearing him sing, I googled him only to find that he was also part of the Joyous Celebration family. I love the things he does with his voice, you’d swear the boy was from America.

Anyway, I also felt as though him being part of Joyous Celebration gave him an unfair advantage over the other participants, what with all the joyous fans around the country, Khaya was destined to win from the get go.

Khaya was born a star, through and through, and him being so humble just makes him shine that much more. He makes me so proud to be a South African. In a country still divided, to some extent by colour, Khaya has just awakened my love and pride of being black, he has reminded me just how faithful God is to those who are faithful to Him.

I am elated: God's boy won the ultimate title. Nothing is impossible for those who believe, and man doesn't he (Khaya) just make Christianity so sexy.
