Sound of Music Mary Poppins
So this is a story of a family of 15 it seems where the mom ran away because the father was using her as a community building project or the fact that all these kids she spawned just can't stop singing – enough to drive anyone mad.

The story starts where this rich captain von Trapp in 1930's Austria, with a stunning girlfriend hires a Mary Poppins, that lost her magical abilities and turned to religion for answers, as nanny for his herd of kids.

Maria (her new alias because Mary is too close to religious management) sees all these kids and immediately reverts back to "old faithful" singing to keep these kids from revolting against "the man". She rehashes some favourites by turning spoons full of sugar into her favourite things, Chim Chim Cher-ee into Do-Re-Me and dancing with animated penguins to dancing with wooden goats.

So Maria, the home wrecker is up to her old tricks and "wedges" herself into the relationship of the "man of the house" and gets him so far as to "run away" with her. I personally blame the captain's girlfriend because if she did a background check on this Maria she would have seen she pulled the same stunt in London two years earlier. She should have vetoed her appointment as nanny.

While she is busy with all this singing she secretly sells off all the kids clothing under the premise that she made new clothing from the curtains and tries to motivate for new clothing by trying to drawn the kids.

She then tries some elaborate money-making scheme and enters them in the 1930's Pop Idols. She realizes the kids do not have the X-factor and therefore she forces the captain to sing (no stage presence) with them.

There is a basic story line about the fact that the Nazi's is taking over Austria while the oblivious Von Trapp family is being indoctrinated to believe singing will solved the war. This happens to such an extent that the family (unexplained in the movie) loses their house because of the financial mismanagement by Maria and has to flee to Switzerland to work as a singing Carnival act.

The movie serves as a "How to" and a must see to all the "Gold Diggers" aiming to achieve similar feats.

This Channel24 reader takes a tongue-in cheek look at the much-loved musical The Sound of Music, and interprets it as the tale of a "home wrecker" who believes singing will end WW2. At least we think it's meant as joke...
