At the end of October, Spotify shared the top artists and tracks as streamed by South African audiences*. Based on this data, Drake was a clear front runner as the most streamed artist, with his global hit In My Feelings also proving popular amongst local audiences.

This year has seen the rise and rise of local artists both here in Mzansi and abroad. AKA’s hit single Fela In Versace topped local charts while also featuring on Spotify’s African Heat global playlist. Songs that have also gained immense traction this year include, Lady Zamar’s Collide, Mlindo The Vocalist’s AmaBlesser (featuring DJ Maphorisa), Shekhinah with Suited and Please Mr. Black Coffee’s recently released Drive (featuring David Guetta) has also proven to be a firm favourite and is expected to climb the list of most streamed songs as we edge closer to the festive season.

Spotify recently asked fans to share the top artists and songs that will be making an appearance on their Summer playlist. Below is a selection of favourites that South African fans are looking forward to streaming over the holiday period. The top three artists based on the most steamed by South African audiences since launch changed slightly in ranking. And XXXTentacion and Ed Sheeran are still proving to be favourites.
