Alistair is appearing in the Michael Jackson tribu
In the spirit of "now that you're dead, all is forgiven", SA celebs (or "music icons", according to the press release) will be paying tribute to Michael Jackson in a concert at Grand West Casino, to allow fans to "gather to grieve the loss of their icon" as they have at his family home and other famous locations, which have been "turned into shrines".

How fitting, in a sense, that the South African manifestation of Jacko's "shrine" should be GrandWest Casino.

Cut school, kids!, and be at the 1pm memorial, where fans will be able to write their message of condolences in a book, which will be delivered to the Jackson family later in the week.

The tribute concert will start at 7pm, featuring The Rockets, Karin Kortje, Celeste Williams, Alistair Izobell and Claire Philips. "Michael has been an inspiration to all of us, not only as an artist, but also lyrically," says Alistair Izobell. He continues, "his vision and music has embraced us all (yes, in some cases a LITTLE too literally Alistair!) and it is a privilege for all of the artists that will share the stage on Wednesday evening to celebrate his legacy and his music that has now become immortal."

Cashing in on the sponsorship front: Heart 104.9FM in association with GrandWest Casino. Luckily, tickets are fairly cheap at R30, and it's for a good cause. All proceeds from the event go to the Cape Music Industry Commission, to aid the development of local music.

So what's up in Joburg and Durban? Where can fans go to share their grief? Let us know.
