Los Angeles – Australian band, 5 Seconds of Summer have found themselves in a couple of spats over the festive season and exposed them to Rolling Stone magazine.

The first involved Justin Bieber and the American Music Awards.

5SOS guitarist Michael Clifford claimed in the recent interview with Rolling Stone that Justin hates them and they crashed his American Music Awards party where he ''had his own album on loop for two or three hours'' but a furious Justin told them to stop using him for headlines.

In a series of now deleted tweets, Justin, 21, wrote: "@Michael5SOS Sorry guy. Don't hate you. Don't even know u. And are u sure u came to our party because my album wasn't on loop? Strange (sic)."

Referring to Michael and his pop-rock bandmates appearing naked on the cover of the magazine, he added: "Wish u the best. Don't use my name for headlines . U are already on the cover. U don't need it. Just be honest. Big hugs bud (sic)."

A repentant Michael was quick to attempt to pacify Justin, blaming the whole thing on the magazine.

He tweeted: "@justinbieber done nothing but praise ur album; no idea why that's even in the article. big fan since the start man, take care (sic)."

Michael spoke about Justin in his interview, saying: "I think he hates us. The party was fucking crazy, people standing on tables and shit.

"I probably shouldn't say this, but he had his own album on loop for, like, two or three hours."

The second was with James Corden.

Michael was reportedly upset after James poked fun at him while filming a sketch recently.

The guitarist and his bandmates - Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin - filmed a skit for The Late Late Show where James pretended to be their fifth member but he reportedly got annoyed when they kept stepping on his lines and took it out on Michael.

According to the magazine: "His jokes at the band's expense seemed to get harsher, and he singled out Clifford: 'I can find a dickhead with red hair seven days a week! You think you're the first guy to dye your hair and be in a band? You're like a cliché of every shit musician."

A "shaken" Michael said after filming: "That was really weird. That was the hardest promo I've ever done."

The meanest insults were left out of the sketch when it aired.
